THE BRONX, New York (WABC) -- Police are looking for a gunman who shot and killed a man in the Bronx on Tuesday morning.
It happened at Trinity Avenue and East 149th Street just after 7:45 a.m.
The victim, 38-year-old Victor Bautista was pronounced dead at the hospital.
"He was a father. He was an uncle. He was a brother is a definitely a good guy. And we have we were so sad to lose him," Marisol Rivera said.
Rivera is with Save Our Streets in the Bronx, an anti-violence group offering support to the family.
Police say someone shot Bautista in the chest outside of a deli.
Those who knew the victim say the shooting stemmed from a disagreement.
As loved ones consoled each other on one side of the police tape, investigators canvassed the area looking for clues that could lead them to the shooter.
"You can say you can have disagreements, but it should never lead to nobody losing their life," Rivera said.
Police towed a Blue BMW believed to be tied to the investigation.
Gatsamani Peralta and her family say they heard two gunshots outside their apartment.
"I thought it was fireworks. I'm scared it happened outside my window. I'm scared," Peralta said.
As police try to piece together what happened, loved ones are trying to hold it together.
"He definitely was good, got energy. A lot of people loved him. He was loved. He's a care. A lot of people are. You know, it's unfortunate he won't be missed and loved," Rivera said.
Police said the shooter was last seen wearing some kind of green construction vest and headed toward East 149th Street.
