Crystal Cranmore reports from Newark, New Jersey with details on the deadly shooting.

NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- Five people were shot and one man was killed in Newark late on Monday night.

The shooting happened around 11:40 p.m. at 367 6th Ave.

Police say that five people were shot, including 18 year-old Brandyn Waters, of Paterson, who was shot in the chest.

He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Four other men, including two 19-year-olds, a 24-year-old and a 26-year-old, were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds.

"This happened right on the border of Newark and East Orange, we think there may be some disputes between cities, obviously the police are working hard at this," said Newark Mayor Ras Baraka.

Newark police were back out on Tuesday afternoon posting flyers looking for information that could lead them to the shooter.

Baraka says the city's Office of Violence Prevention efforts are working.

"Homicides are down, shootings are way down," Baraka said. "Our hearts go out do the families who lost their son."

Few other details were released and the shooting is under investigation.
